Birth and early life of Amit Jain

Amit Jain was born on Friday, 12 November 1976 in Jaipur, Rajasthan. His father, Prashant Jain, was an RBI officer and gem dealer who died in 2006.

His mother, Neelima Jain, is a homemaker. He has a younger brother, Anurag Jain, who is the co-founder and COO of CarDekho. His grandfather Late Dr. Dharam Singh Jain was a renowned astrologer.

Amit completed his early schooling from St. Xavier’s Senior Secondary School, Jaipur. He then joined the Institute of Technology, Delhi (1995–1999) to complete his further studies and obtained a bachelor’s degree in technology.

Amit is married to Pihu Jain, who works at Girnar Software Pvt. Ltd. The couple has twin sons Ayaan Jain and Ahil Jain.

Career of Amit Jain

In the year 1998, after completing his engineering, he started working as a software engineer in Tata Consultancy Services. Amit then joined Trilogy, a software development company in 2000 and worked there till 2007. There he worked on the website www.YourBillBuddy.com.

In 2006, his father suffered from an illness, due to which Amit and his brother Anurag quit their jobs and moved back to their hometown to take care of him. Initially, he worked in his father’s gem business. His attempt to take his father’s gem business online did not succeed.

Later, he started his business journey with a small office in his home garage and incorporated the software company Girnarsoft.

In 2008, Amit and his brother founded CarDekho while attending the Auto Expo in New Delhi and came up with the idea of ​​starting a website with reliable information for buying and selling used and new cars.

He started a portal where he provided users with the right information about cars before they decide to buy.

In the year 2009, he had a loss of Rs 1 crore in the stock market, due to which he had no money left.

Initially they faced many difficulties, but in 2015, CarDekho grew rapidly and today the company is standing on a big footing. In the year 2013, his company received funding from Sequoia Capital, a US-based company.

Most others spend on marketing. For the first seven years, Amit Jain did not spend a single rupee on marketing. Even he did not create any account on Facebook, Google or Instagram, nor did he do any brand advertisement. The information they provided was their marketing strategy.
